I am starting this entry on Thursday afternoon, just before 4pm. Everything seems so hectic right now, there are still pictures from the benefit show that I haven’t got around to ordering! I had to stay over at work yesterday, so that chopped almost two hours out of my already precious few hours between getting home and going to bed!
The trip to Mooresville on Tuesday was very good. It takes about an hour and a half to get there from Spartanburg on I85/I77. I met ER off 85 a little before 11am and we took off. We left early in order to stop and visit with our friend Sharon and her family for a few hours. We actually beat her home. Sharon’s mom made us feel especially at home and introduced us to the family of pets. (Cinammon loves me more, ER!) Sharon made us a wonderful meal of baked chicken, stuffing, broccoli & cheese, green beans and peas. We washed this all down with copious amounts of Pepsi.
We spent a few hours with full bellys and the great tales from the old ‘rassling days. Then we ventured forth into Mooresville proper! Sharon took us by Dale Earnhardt Inc. We walked around inside the foyer. Very nice building, I like all the glass. My NASCAR days are over, and have been since Ward Burton failed to secure a ride.
From there we went to feast our eyes on the $150,000 gate that protects a certain driver’s home. It’s a nice place, big house on the hill, and like football field lights in the front yard illuminating I suppose a track.
I stopped at Nelson Royal’s leather store along the way to get a picture. If you don’t know who Nelson Royal was, you should look him up.
We got to the National Guard Armory at 6.30, George was at the ticket counter. I have gotten to the point where George actually remembers my name now, so I must be doing something right. He gave me the Wahoo package, and I bought one of the t-shirts. I still have not had a chance to watch the Wahoo shoot DVD, but will try to this weekend. George was constantly moving back and forth from the ticket table to the back, to the microphone etc.
Good to see Dick Bourne again, and you will see in my photos later on that Dick is now the triple threat of the MidAtlantic Mafia – webmaster, cameraman and now announcer! ER was seething in his chair that he didn’t get to say anything, har! Dick, George and whoever else helped, yawl did a great job! The video presentation was great, it gave folks (really only ER) a chance to see how Wahoo was back in the day. Spoke to Tony Hunter for just a minute, I’m really looking forward to his show in November!
The Eagle’s showed up, with the newest APW sensation, Dusty Eagle Money aka Dirty Money. The matches were good, not too short, not too long. Eagle faced “Romeo” Mark Slain in the “Strapless Indian Strap Match”…..Superstar beat Jason “Ultimate Warrior/Fighter/whatever” Jones for the EWA title….which I really like the EWA title belt, it does favor the NWA title, but it has it’s own look to it and I like that….A few new faces for me, everybody did good. George was in the main event against the Dirty Old Assassin…and George got bloody!
The show ended at about 10pm…very good time for a weekday show…ER and I hit the road….I got home about 12.20 and then was up at 6am to go to work! This wrestling stuff is wearing me out! There is no AWC show tomorrow night so I am almost at a loss! What to do?
I have heard that George may try to run more shows on Tuesday nights, I certainly hope so.
It will be hard for some to believe, but I actually did sit through WWE Raw on USA Monday night, I watched the whole thing. I was again entertained at a friends house for the show, thanks again “homie”……
I read the announcement yesterday on the HVW site that the “House of Ribs” has been closed down. It’s a real shame, of course I knew in the back of my mind that it would happen one day. The fight club was a memorable place. Ethan Cage’s last match before his time off……the fake eviction notice…..whoever went in there and changed the sign from House of Pain to House of Ribs……the drunks…..the blood…..and the great talent that got together every other Friday night…..I am sure HVW will be back, and I look forward to it.
I think that’s all I have for now…
