Tuesday night!

Tuesday, February 28th, 2006

I have begun posting the pictures from SWA this past Saturday night. If I don’t get them completed tonight, it will by lunch tomorrow hopefully. Went to the 2nd Annual Anderson Brothers Classic in Mooresville,NC this past Sunday. Had a great time. Adam and I met Thomas and ER in Spartanburg and we headed down about 3pm. Mooresville takes no time to get to. Met the Mafia (Dick,Mike,Peggy and Clay-great to see yous guys again) at Sonny’s for a meal. Food was pretty good, it was the first time I had ever been there.

The show was at the Armory. Got to talk to Jamie Tucker a bit, bought Jimmy Valiant’s book – which is really good, I have read several chapters since then. The “Highspots Guys” were there, Shawn Williams from the CWA. Of course George South too. I enjoyed the show and had a great time just goofing around. ER got to do commentary with EWA Commish Steve Hall and Shawn. Looking forward to seeing this DVD.

I got to go in the back and shoot some “promo” type photos for Dick while Masked Superstar and George South Jr were doing their interviews. Superstar was telling some stories about his days in Mid Atlantic and on the road – fascinating stuff. It made me think of how lucky I am to be in the position that I am in. A few years ago, I was watching Demolition Axe on TV. “One Take Bill” as Dick called him served up a great promo in no time.

I got some great shots of George South’s bloody face in the main event. “Little George” turned on him, giving the victory to “Texas Lightning” Bobby Houston and Ethan Cage (the original one).

Hit the road and scooted back home. I felt like absolute crap yesterday evening when I got home, went to bed at 9.30!

I am probably going to HVW this Friday and may be going to Southern Championship Wrestling in Lenoir with Thomas on Saturday, not sure yet though.

Also, I have added a “newsletter” to my site. Just click on the “Email Updates” link on the left side of the page. I decided to do it after I receiving several emails from people who want to keep up with my work. So I thought this would be a good way to do it. If you are interested, just check that out.

Plans for AWA-Power Pro Wrestling are coming together and it sounds like a great show! Looking forward to it.

2 down, 1 to go.

Fun weekend so far. Friday night was HVW in Hendersonville. Good to see Shannon Moore, Tim, Miss Arlene, that skinny ref and everyone else. This was the largest crowd I have ever seen at HVW. Several people had to stand at the sides to see the show. I finally learned who the elusive photographer “Storm” is. DJ Ray continues to embrace disco, although I did not get to hear “Honeybee” this night. He did play a great track for us though, and I know that “Debbie Does” it. Good show. Had a lot of big men there. Biohazard, Buzz from Damage Inc (he was the guy with a half blue face), and Krono – who is a trainee of Shannon Moore’s. The crowd was calling him “GI Jane”. Thomas was actually able to pull a watchable match out of ST Ryker again. Ryan C and Kaos had the “flippity-floppity” match with the ladder. I enjoyed Law and Buffett’s match, Law is the new HVW champ.

Last night was SWA in Forest City. Again, a great show. Ken and Adam wrestled Kirby and Ashley Walker. Really enjoyed this. To be honest, as far as the Underground are concerned I thought this match was better than the one on Friday night. That’s not a slight to anyone, but Friday night was a four corners tag match, with eight guys. There were a lot of fake babies in the crowd last night. Apparently the local Home Eco. class has assigned them to the students. So, why was there a guy bottle feeding one for 45 minutes at ringside? Chris Hamrick delivered an incredibly loud chop (doesn’t he always) to Shea Shea McGrady last night. Someone needs to get a decibel measurement on his chops because they sound louder everytime I hear them.

I got to love on Gizmo, he’s so little I could just eat ‘em! He has an awesome “street” vibe with his hoody.

The Great Ernie and I are heading to Mooresville this afternoon for the second annual Anderson Brothers Classic. We are crashing a Mid Atlantic Mafia meeting at 5pm there.

And the winner is….

The Great ER! And here is his trophy – presented by the Midwestern fast food chain: “Cherrypoppers & Nannerhonkers”…nicknamed the “Twinkee”, for excellence in sports broadcasting.

Saturday

High Velocity Wrestling last night. Good to see Commissioner Rathburn again, I thought he had dropped out of site! Also, kudos to Billy for keeping up the HVW site. He does a great job with it.

More people in the crowd last night. I was happy to see that. I counted
probably around 50 in the building. The “Highspots” guys were there. Los
Guerreros, Jake Manning and Tracy Smother Jr.

The Dirty Southside Avengers (Neil Nitro & Brice Anthony) put on their expected great match. I mean East Coast Avengers, I got a couple of gimmicks mixed up, sorry.

The Grimmett’s? I don’t get it.

As soon as I get my pictures loaded up, I will have pictures of the “Most
Accident Prone of the Carolinas”. I mean that in plural, as Bryan has been
joined by his brother David. David I believe just had a bionic knee
replacement and it looks like Bryan’s eye gonorrhea has cleared up enough for him to return to the ring. I’m kidding of course….he could have come back anytime, eye gonorrhea won’t keep you out of the ring.

DJ Ray has finally decided to add 1970’s music to the preshow musical
calvacade. Last night, it was “Ring My Bell” by Anita Ward. I’m hoping next
week to hear “Honeybee” by Gloria Gaynor. Do it!

Pride is the word I will use concerning Adam and Ken’s match against Kirby and TJ. This was a spectacular match! I can’t say that enough. Lots of great
stuff there. I have talked with Adam and Ken this morning, and they are both
pretty happy with the match.

Looking forward to next Friday, Underground, Team Macktion, Shannon Moore all at HVW. I’ll be back at WWC on Tuesday night.

Rescue: Mill Spring!

Thursday, February 16th, 2006

Nothing beats waking up in the morning under warm blankets, a nice soft pillow – the cat wrapped up at your feet. Your bed mates spit pooled near your head, and this morning the blaring of sirens. It is a residential hazard since I live directly across from the Mill Spring Fire Department. No bother though, I have become accustomed to it.

This morning though I could tell something major was going on. I got up and went to the office, turned on my scanner and heard the FD setting up a landing zone for “Regional 1″ which is Spartanburg Regional’s helicopter.

The landing zone in Mill Spring is right below my house at a county ballfield. When the helicopter comes to town, it is an event! Everybody leaves their houses to come out and watch.

I walked out through the Hundred Acre Woods with camera in tow to see if I could get any shots of the landing. Below is what I got:

The Approach.

Then I saw a bird.

Then I went to McDonald’s and had a breakfast burrito.

Valentine’s Day Night.

I am sitting here in the office watching the Winter Olympics. I started writing this blog yesterday, but for some reason blogger.com is not letting me save a draft copy so it was all lost. Off work tomorrow and Thursday. Getting my hair cut at noon, and my teeth cleaned at two.

I read ER’s blog earlier today. Give me a break brother! You have nothing else to do during the day and you turn in that? D minus!

I returned to HVW on Friday night, with Adam, Melony and ER in tow. It was good to be back at the “House of Pain”. Good to see some old faces. The Buffetts I had not see for weeks. Good to see Mitch, et al. Law is awesome, as is the ass punch. The HVW kids had their usual “clothesline, clothesline, clothesline, DDT, DDT, DDT, shining wizard, frog splash” match. Dirty and Neil had a good match, I got two great pictures there. Went to Denny’s after the show and surprise it is craptacular in any city. The company was good though.

On Saturday, ER and I had originally planned to attend the MAXW show in Iva,SC. They had to cancel the event. Instead we went to WWC Saturday Night Live. Mikal Adryan, Jeff Lewis, Jeremy V were among the wrestlers there. ER and I rode up to Denny’s in Spartanburg to meet some of the APW folks for a late meal. I ran into Mario Hogg there. I had not seen him since the Starrcade show. Sat with Ken and Xanthe. Of course it was a busy night and of course the service was sub-par. I don’t blame the waiter, he was doing his best. Why do I keep going here?

Met Thomas and ER in Spartanburg at 11am Sunday morning. Headed to Charleston. We got there about 2.30 or 3pm. Thomas showed us around parts of the town. I can see the allure of Charleston to so many people. We got out and walked along downtown. Went into the Market where we met up with Kirby and Rebecca. Thomas bought some “Benne Wafers”, a Charleston staple apparently. Benne seeds are just sesame seeds. They are actually pretty good. Went to Battery Park, saw the historical sites, got some pictures. One with ER worshiping the black cannon (yeah, it is a Dirty joke). There were “Andre the Giant has a Posse” stickers everywhere!

Went to the Inferno Pro Wrestling show at the Music Farm. Interesting building, it was sort of like a larger version of Ground Zero. I liked the paintings and the night skyline painted at the rear. Perhaps I was confused about the start time, but I thought it was going to be 7pm. It started at 8pm. I only got to see the first couple of matches. Kirby and TJ were in the second one. Great match, I actually felt like I was clicking better with the brothers in the ring. There is at least one good picture in all that I took. After that we left. I didn’t shoot the first match since I was not going to be there for the entire show. We were back on the road about 9pm. I got into bed at 1.30 Monday morning.

Tired? Yes, very. I was totally out of it Monday. Worth it? Sure. I had a great time all weekend. I would do it again. Probably will in March.

This week is just HVW on Friday. Looking forward to the Underground versus Team Macktion. I’m working Saturday, so it will be a short wrestling weekend.

My clothes are piling up in the bedroom, dirty. My dishes are piling up, dirty.
I started typing this with the Olympics. I have been working on it between uploading the WWC photos. I have sat through Futurama, Family Guy and now Aqua Teen Hunger Force is on. I love this show. The episode is “Mothmonsterman”.

My taxes have been sent off to the accountant. Looking forward to the refund.

The good news!

I just got a message from Crystal Camera and the camera is fixed! Ready for pickup Friday morning.

My tour

Wednesday, February 8th, 2006

My “No Camera Needed” photography tour continued last night at WWC in Greenville. Good show, had a good time as the junior assistant time keeper. The more shows I don’t get to shoot, the more useless I feel. The joey formerly known as Ethan Cage unveiled his new name last night: Adam Jaxon, where he came up with that? Who knows. I am alone at work right now, and when this happens I always start thinking too much. At home, I can busy myself with clothes that need to be washed, or dishes or something on the computer (oh, I think you know what I’m talking about) or something I’ve TiVo’d. Here at work, when it’s quiet though, only regrets and grand plans.

I pretty sure I will be going to HVW this Friday. It has been several weeks since I have been there.

I love my pen. It’s a Fisher brushed chrome Cap-O-Matic ball point. I take it everywhere. It has blue ink. It writes upside down. And underwater. And in space. I have recovered from years of pen fixation. I used to have boxes of pens. I gave them all away. I kept just a few. I don’t like to loan my personal pens out. Please don’t ask to borrow it, I will hound you until I get it back.

I have sent in all my tax stuff. The refund will buy me ink refills, no not really. It will get out of a little debt hopefully.

I knew I should have never joined MySpace. Now everyday, I have to be on it. Half the time it doesn’t work. I will get the “technical problem” that is supposedly reported to Tom, but I don’t believe it. People think I’m retarded because I send emails like 2-3 times, it’s not that – I just have to make sure it went through, sometimes it gives me an error message.

Camera Watch!

Tuesday, February 7th, 2006

I just called the camera repair shop, and the part that was ordered on 2 day mail, is supposed to arrive today (it was supposed to be there yesterday) and as soon as it comes in, they can begin work on it. So no camera tonight! My value is slowly seeping away….I have to work tomorrow and Thursday, so I won’t be able to pick it up until Friday. Oh well.

Saturday Night’s alright for fighting.

Sunday, February 5th, 2006

So I went straight home last night after work…the first time I had done that on a Saturday night in I don’t recall when. Even the pussy could tell something was different when I walked in…I had intended to eat a quick supper (which I did, Dollar General Mac & Cheese, and BallPark frankfurters), do my triple S, and then hit the sack. I didn’t get into bed until a little after 11pm, still earlier than usual. I had only one phone call, and no visitors…everyone in my life that is not wrestling “related” knows to not even bother on Saturdays now. Ain’t that sad? I didn’t even watch TV, I started watching Battlestar Galactica that I had TiVo’d from Friday but got tied up doing some stuff on the computer.
