Big Jim got burned….

Today I went to see a good movie.  Infamous is the other Capote movie that I have mentioned before.  I found it playing at the Fine Arts Theater in Asheville at 1pm.

I think that you would need to be a Capote fan in order to get everything the movie presents.  Phillip Seymour Hoffman did a great job in “Capote”, but this portrayal shows more of what I imagined Capote to be.  The scenes of Truman trying to interview the townspeople and Alfred Dewey are especially funny.  I suppose one side is that the over the top Capote may take away from the story.  I disagree.

I really liked that Bennett Cerf was included in this one.  Bennett was the co-owner of Random House and Truman’s publisher.  Cerf was played by Peter Bogdonavich.  Bennett was a panelist on “What’s My Line”, and I have just about every book he wrote.

Nelle Harper Lee was played by Sandra Bullock in a sturdy fashion.

I have finished with the PPW pictures from Saturday, and will be starting the World 1 South photos tonight.

acting unit 0.8…

Here are a couple of quotes:

“Many recieve advice, few profit by it.” – from the Maxims of Publilius Syrus.

“Advice is what we ask for when we already know the answer but wish we didn’t.” -  Erica Jong.

“In giving advice, seek to help, not please, your friend.” – Solon

For those of you wondering, the pictures from PPW are almost up.  I have really been lazy today.  As of right now, Family Guy is gettting ready to come on Cartoon Network, so it will be slow going.

right down here at the other end…

Busy weekend for the new “King of the Indy Wrestling, nay…The Wrestling Photographers”.  Saturday, EFW and KOTWP headed up to Hendersonville early for Kirby’s seminar.  Of course, I didn’t stay for the seminar, we joined Thomas and went to the Golden Corral for some late lunch.

Good to see all the PPW guys.  Good show, quick paced.  Cham Pain and Ashley Walker added a new element to the show.  Tre was cheesing while refing the match.  Soon the picture will be up of Tre’s new official AWA shirt.  Jamie if you read this, best of luck!

I’ve said it before, but Jimbo Fox is the man!  Thanks again for the favor, it will make someone very happy.  Oh, and I talked to our friends at the Ale House, they are wondering why you haven’t called yet?

We convened at the bar next door after the show, where I was asked a set of burning questions from the Goonies.  Wow, what inquisitive minds children have now.  Finally I was reunited with Bubbles, who gave me some of the driest kisses ever.  Don’t tease me lover!

ER and I were shocked to see the Burke Co. Wrestling champion, Bobby Houston at the show.   Accompanying him was new Undergear model, Jake Manning.

Sunday morning I met the Macks in Spartanburg at 11am and we headed out to Valdosta, GA.  With traffic, we arrived around 5.30pm.  We did get to hear the Gary Dell’abate roast on Howard Stern and listened to Sirius 104-Raw Dog the entire way.

Got to meet Larry Zybyszko and Glacier.  I enjoyed the show, the attendance was about 50 or so.  The convention center had a nice set up. The Macks faced Chasyn Rance, Mr St. Laurent, and Zybyszko w/ So Cal Val at ringside.  Main event was Dustin Rhodes (as GoldDust) vs. Glacier.

Got back to Spartanburg at 3.30 this morning.  We came back through Atlanta on I75 – this was the first time I have ever been through the city.

I am going to start working on the pictures today, so they will probably be complete tomorrow or Wednesday.  I’m still on vacation, so I ain’t breaking my neck.

8 f’n 50 for this…

I can now say that I have seen the worst movie ever created.   Saw 3.  The absolute drizzling shits.  No plot that I could keep up with…and the big payoff at the end, who cared?  I wanted them all dead.  Gore and gore just to gross people out.  Never again.  Never again.  People don’t believe me, but I know stinkers from a mile away.  And I smelled this one before I even left the house.  I went for the company, and that was good.

I heard that Adam “Terry Funk” Jaxon and Stoney “Old School Sting” Hooker stole the show at HVW tonight.

ER and I went to Barnes & Noble.  I bought a book by Gore Vidal, a book about the beer industry in America, and a book about a guy that was in the Air Force.  ER bought a comic book to look at the pictures.

Whose turning lane is it anyway…

Tonight, my mother Judy P, cousin Adam and his wife Melony headed down to the Peace Center in Greenville to see Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood.  The show started at 7.30 with Colin coming out to announce that Brad had been traveling since 9pm yesterday when he tried to catch the red eye to Washington from LAX.  The flight was delayed, then cancelled.  Not to go into detail but he was still traveling when the show started – on the I85 from Atlanta airport to Greenville.  So our surprise was Edwin McCain, who came out and sang us a few songs.

I never expected to see McCain in concert, but I’m glad I did.

The show begins with Brad this time, and I laughed for the next two hours.  Great stuff, including a wedding proposal on stage from a local couple.  I literally had tears in my eyes it was so funny.  They ended the show with the “worlds most dangerous improv”.  This was 100 mouse traps set and on the stage, Colin and Brad blindfolded and barefoot playing the Alphabet game.

As I was driving home at 11.30, I realized that just 24 hours previous I was doing the same thing.  The rest of the weekend was going to be the same thing…late shows and driving.  I was originally heading down to NFWA in Clayton, GA tomorrow night but plans have been changed.  I am taking tomorrow night off, my apologies to NFWA, I will be back!

the famous wine test…

Went to GOUGE last night with Kirby and Derek Ryze.  Left Spartanburg about 2.15pm.  Took about 3 1/2 hours to get there.  Had some time to kill, so I went next door to the Vertigo Diner with Jennifer and Heather Fox.  The food portions at the diner were more than adequate.  Their homemade chips were nice and salty.  This was the first time I have actually been able to sit and talk to the Fox ladies without all the wrestling stuff going on around us.  Let me just say too, the Foxes know people!

The show had a good turn out, I would say close to 60 people.  Everybody wanted to know where ER and Ostgard were at.  Got to see Dick Foley in hardcore action!

While out back admiring the sites of Raleigh, we ran into a celebrity who happened to be in town.  None other than Eddie Murphy!  Kirby sent him down to talk to Derek and I as we were supposed to have money.  Why would a rich celebrity need five more dollars to buy a NC ID card so he can get on a bus to head to Utah the next day?  I had to tell “Eddie” that I never brought cash to wrestling, so he was out of luck.  Derek steadfastly refused to make eye contact with him.  We had a similar encounter at a gas station off I85 later in the morning, but this poor girl was no celebrity.  Unless you consider looking like “white trash wife #3″ from COPS to be celebrity.

The match between Kirby and Derek was great.  It had just the right amounts of humor and serious mat work to keep everyone entertained.  Practically flawless and everything looked crisp.

Our late supper was at the Ale House, where Jimbo made some new friends in the facilities.

Got back to Spartanburg at 3.45 am.

a magic box…a safe and happy haven…

I was in TV today!  I saw it on Channel 7 at the 5pm news.  For my real job I attended the Duke Energy Storm School in Greeville, SC today.  Channel 4 and Fox 21 (where my brother is the night boss) were also there.  Sooooo…that’s about it.

GOUGE tomorrow.  Going to the Peace Center to see Colin Mochrie & Brad Sherwood.  Friday will be NFWA in Clayton, GA.  Saturday is AWA PPW in Hendersonville, NC.  Then Sunday I’m going to try and go down to World 1 South in Valdosta, GA.  Busy busy.

I could kiss Blue Iris…

Someone asked me the other day: “Are you ever going to take more wrestling pictures”?  Of course I am.  The past two weekends have just been a break for me is all.  I will be returning to a full schedule this week, when I trek back to GOUGE in Raleigh, NC on Wednesday, NFWA in Clayton on Friday, and AWA Power Pro in Hendersonville on Saturday.  Tomorrow will officially begin my vacation.

PPW for Saturday is being touted as the final Hendersonville show.  I’m looking forward to the new direction for PPW.

This Friday was a blast.  ER came by the house and we headed up the mountain to pick up Neil and Devin.  We then met Lyle and Sabrina in Asheville at Barley’s Tap Room.  Lyle got us some spots on the “Haunted Asheville” tour.  This is something that I have been wanting to do since it started, so thank you Lyle and Sabrina.  I enjoyed the tour, it’s about an hour of walking around downtown Asheville and hearing tales of past events that have lead to alleged sightings.  I love Asheville, I don’t get there as much as I would like, but being in Asheville in the fall is one of my favorite things.  The little chill in the air, the people walking on the street, the whole atmosphere.

I’ll bet the only thing ER remembers from the tour is the “river of snot”.

Afterwards we had a little meal at the Mellow Mushroom.  We had no idea there was a brassiere shortage in Asheville.  We did not get a chance to enjoy the “ladies” of the night, so we are going to plan that for another day…I hope.

Saturday and Sunday were days of rest.
