So long Chuck…

Sad news when I got to my Inbox.  Charles Nelson Reilly, a staple on the Match Game died Friday at the age of 76.

You can read it here: http://origin.mercurynews.com/tv/ci_6003767

I’ll come clean too..the little “hull hull” laugh –  I just copied CNR, who copied it from Paul Lynde, who copied it from Alice Ghostley.

CNR and Brett Somers made Match Game.

lunch box back to the cafeteria…

Went to APW last night in Spartanburg.  I didn’t get to stay for the entire show, but it was good seeing everybody again.  There were 10 matches.  Very hot inside the building, the effects were evident on the crowd.  I left after seeing Ken Magnum vs. Heath Havoc.  It had been several months since I have seen Ken in the ring, and I’m happy to see him back in.

It was Ken and I who came to APW in January 2004 to see the show, he talked to the Chief about training, I talked to Jimmy Valiant and the rest is history.

“The Idol” Sonny Landel returned to the American Coliseum last night.  He has cut his hair, and looks a little more “settled”.  Good to see him.

Bad Breed = Axl & Ian Rotten.  The “new” Bad Breed = just bad.

I heard last night that Mike McCloud had to go to the hospital for a possible dislocated shoulder – hope everything is ok there.

I know that I won’t be taking wrestling pictures for the rest of my life, one day I will get to old and stiff to keep up with it and at that point I will just go to the shows and have a good time out in the crowd.  I hope that I don’t ever become someone who is so bitter and miserable that I start going to shows just to try and stir up shit.  I can stir up that at home online for free…but pay $10 or whatever to come out and do it in front of people…wow.  Am I talking about one particular person, yes.  They thrive on keeping drama stirred up, and they love being in the midst of it.  They will even go as far as making someone who doesn’t deserve it feel like shit.  That’s not the kind of fan I ever want to be.  A fan like that deserves whatever they get.

They are mad because they realize that their life is never going to get any better, it shows their own self-doubts.  The drama and tension belongs in the ring at a wrestling show, not in the crowd.  I shouldn’t even be talking about them here…it’s a waste of my time, and they are just a waste.

a creamy classic treat…

If you keep up with the news, I’m sure you have read about Christopher Newton’s “ordeal” in the Ohio death chamber.  Does it change my opinion on the death penalty?  No.

Read the pdf file on the 2006 appeal.

I’m at work all weekend, but I will be making a trip down to American Pro Wrestling in Spartanburg tonight.  It has been quite a while since I have gotten to see my bud, Ken Magnum in the ring.  He returned a couple of Saturdays back, so I want to see how much rust is on the joints.  Also looking forward to seeing Ostgard, Boomer Payne and a few other folks.

I am just about out of extra vacation time at work, so my show schedule is going to have to be cut back.  I always keep a certain amount in reserve in order to take my two weeks in October though.

Currently reading through three short story collections: “Off the Main Sequence” by Robert A. Heinlein; “Black Seas of Infinity: The Best of H.P. Lovecraft” edited by Andrew Wheeler; and “Fragile Things” by Neil Gaiman.

that thing of…”are we a hit?”…

I was browsing through Myspace.com tonight and how cool is it that these guys are using a picture I took as their profile photos?  They may have changed by the time you read this, but at the time they were mine….Steve Corino   CW Anderson

Regardless of where I go and what I do, I am still a wrestling fan at heart and I want to thank them and everybody who likes the pictures enough to use them in their profiles.  The Great ER, Kirby & TJ Mack use them a lot too, thanks guys.  When are we going to Hooters?

The photos from NWA Anarchy are now up at: www.NWAphotos.com

No shows this weekend, I have to work.

I will quit you…

I’m sick of it…I have had my absoute fill of it…what?  These graphic/video/music heavy pages on MySpace.  Thank you for the bulletin telling me you have added something new.  How about taking all the old stuff off of it?

“Read my blog!”

I would if you didn’t have every stinking rap song/cameraphone gallery/bat mitzvah videos in the known universe on your page!

All that crap has to load first…I am tired of it…no more…if you have populated your Myspace page with all this crap…then…then I may not go there as much.

My page (I think) is as no-frills as my website.  That’s how I like it – you can read what’s on my page…the music fits me most of the time…whatever.

yes…the fist…

I don’t think I have ever been so tired as I am now…A three show run…very little sleep, but so much fun…

Thursday – CWA Pro Wrestling in Columbia, SC at the Jamil Temple. Left at 4pm from Spartanburg.  Got to shoot Jake Roberts for the first time.  Sadly this wasn’t the Jake from the good old days (which I wasn’t expecting) but Jake from “Beyond the Mat”.  Also, his snake shit in the ring.  What a smell.  Got to speak to Susan Greene again also.   Stopped at some stinking Hooters off I26 to eat.  I ordered the soup of the day (tater every day), and I got some reheated pre-fab glop in a bowl that was barely room temperature.  Absolute rubbish.  Got home in time to get about 2 1/2 hours of sleep before I had to get up at 6am for work.

Friday – Left work at 4pm to head to UWF in Mooresville.  First time shoots: Gail Kim, Chris Harris and Jackie Moore.  Team Macktion and Corino/CW Anderson was great.  It’s nice to see Kriby get his ass kicked every once in awhile.  ER got to do commentary – congrats.  Afterwards, we ate at…where else?  Stinking Hooters.  I had the 1/2 crab legs – I say half because I must have gotten the weakest crab in the sea as there was not much meat in him.  Got home at 2.30am?  Slept for about six hours.

Saturday – Left a little after 2pm to head to Greensboro.  Straight shot on I40.  Checked in with ER/Macktion and they were eating at…Crappy Hooters.  Got to meet Sgt. Slaughter at the show.  ER looked like he was dragging.  Show was over a little past 10pm and I hit the road.  Got into bed about 1.30am, back up today at 6am.  I understand that they were eating after the show at…where else?  Poopy Hooters.

Next show will be NWA Anarchy on the 19th.  A rough total of about 700 pictures from the past three days.

without further adieu…The Devil’s Track…

These were taken today during the Arledge’s visit to the old family graveyard that is set deep in the woods on a hill in Green River Cove.

Taken from the middle of the Green River….
