“What are pinto beans?”
I really don’t update this with the regularity that I used to…what happened?
I’m at work today, currently watching an interview with Annie Lennox on CBS Sunday Morning.
No wrestling this weekend. The past weekend was a lot of fun. I flew (yeah, that’s right) up to Richmond, Virginia for UWF’s Capital Punishment II at Viginia Commonwealth University’s Seigel Center. Good to see the Highspots guys (take a vacation Jake Manning!), George South, Mary Kate Grosso and Christine Coons.
Very good turn out at the show. The Hermie & Elliott Sadler Foundation raised $20,000 for the Commonwealth Autism Society. The giant check was brought out by Ricky Steamboat. Accompanying him was Ron Simmons who only made the crowd wait a few minutes before belting out his signature “damn” – this in reaction to the amount of the check.
The fans in Richmond loved Simmons. The begged for an encore of the one word exclamation.
JBL entered the ring, ran down Richmond and began asking what had happened between LAX and Team Macktion. LAX came to the ring and after insulting T.M. were invited to join “Team JBL.”
Kirby and TJ came to ringside only to be held back by security. They almost made it to the back but were brought back by Sgt. Slaughter. I was glad to see that T.M. played a part in UWF’s big show.
I got back home early Saturday morning and got rested up for my trip to Greensboro that evening. I was going to see legendary film director John Waters. Thankfully this time I just had to read off the directions and ride the comfort of the back seat. The few times I have been to Greensboro, I have never been able to walk around the town. This night was different though, my friends and I had about an hour and a half to waste before the show.
We found a great grill called Fincastles. Great burgers! They even had bottled Cheerwine. I highly recommend! They melted the cheese between the patties of my double cheeseburger, flattened and warmed the buns on the grill, delicious!
The show was hilarious. If you are familiar with John Waters, you can imagine how the talk went. Observations on current events, stories from the past and commentary on his films took an hour and fifteen minutes. We then got to get pictures and autographs in the lobby with him.

I was exhausted Sunday morning. Had lunch with the family to celebrate my birthday from earlier this month. Yes, I am now 32 years old. I don’t feel older, but apparently I do look at least 40+. My hair is turning gray on the sides and turning loose on the top.
On Wednesday I spent about $21 in just thrift/2nd hand stores. You never know what you can find in these places. In Columbus I spent $14 on 2 books (one a history of Greenville,SC), 2 Irish coffe mugs and an interesting painting of what appears to be Tony Schiavone with big glasses on and a black moustache with “Love Ya, Baby” written underneath. Five dollars in Landrum,SC on a pot with built in strainer. $1.60 in Rutherfordton on a pajama suit. You read that correctly, I bought an entire PJ suit- pants, button shirt with pocket for $1.60. Our friend and mouthpiece, Ostgard joined in on the second hand sweep and bought a book for himself by “Juicy” Jay Kordich.
