Holiday blues…

So Blake, what have you done on your vacation?  Where have you gone?  Where are you going?

The answers are nothing, nowhere and nowhere.

Here is a rundown of what I have done since October 19th:

-Slept a lot.

-Caught up with some reading.

-Completed a lot of TV Guide crosswords.

-Watched 200 promos for “Shallow Grave” on BBC America.  Speaking of BBC America, I have started watching their 7pm news show, I like.

-Caught up with a couple of old friends.

- Shaved once or twice.

- Tried two new eating places, Giardini’s in Columbus and Three Chopt Sandwich Shoppe at 103 3rd Avenue East in Hendersonville.  Giardini’s has gourmet catering (not super expensive either) for lunch and dinner.  They are located in the basement of a home, and it opens directly into their gardens, which provide the vegetables for their food.  Very nice.  I had the grilled shrimp pesto for lunch.  Plus they offer a recycling program for the bowls.  If you bring in 15 bowls you get a free meal.  Three Chopt is a small place on the side of the street.  Great atmosphere and food.  As soon as we were seated, we were brought a bowl of popcorn.

-I have started Christmas shopping.

-Watched myself on “Psychic Detectives”, BJ looked great, I looked like a watermelon with a tie on.  Did anyone notice my Sirius cap?

- Watched “Planet Terror,” and glad I did.  Very funny.  Also finally watched “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.”

-Met the BEST saleswoman ever.  The Perfumania store in the Asheville Mall.  A friend and I were in there looking for some cologne.  I noticed that Gene Simmons has come out with a “KISS” cologne.  I asked the saleslady what it smelled like.  She shook her head, and said it wasn’t good.  I persisted, and she responded with: “Well, it smells like p***y.”  What a great answer.  I did not buy that, but did pick up a bottle of Armani Dark, she also loaded us down with samples.

-Cleaned a lot of books/CDs etc out of my library, got rid of two bags of clothes.  Rearranged my dining room, washed clothes and am getting my house repainted.

Flying to Roanoke on Saturday for a show in Rocky Mount.   Then it’s back to work on November 5th.

Make him chase the chunk…

It has been a few days since I last put up anything, and honestly I just haven’t had it in me to put on up.  I’m on vacation right now.  That plus a nasty bit of unpleasantness currently going on with some friends. This situation has become like a ripple in water, it is far reaching.  I hope that there is a quick and dignified resolution to all of this.

I was at NWA Anarchy this past Saturday.  Pretty good show – lots of crowd reaction for Austin Creed, who was back in the “Church of Southern Wrestling” after his appearance alongside Ron Killings in the TNA’s “Bound For Glory” PPV.  Congrats Austin!

Being at ringside with Brodie Ray Chase Saturday night at Anarchy was a lot of fun – it reminded me of WWC back in Greenville when he was running there.  Thanks for the laughs Cat!

Chaka Kahn’s cholesterol count…

At work today…leaving at 3pm for Neil Nitro’s wedding.  Congrats to Neil and Jackie.  Neil is a good friend of ours and we wish him and the new Mrs. Nitro the best.  I first met Neil in Spartanburg at APW.  It would have been around March 2004 when the long gone tag team of “The UnderGround” had started.  Neil was one of the first guys in wrestling who would actually take a little time to talk to me.  Neil is a great underrated talent in the area, and I think a lot of him.  He has been through a lot, and I’m glad that he has found some happiness. Congratulations again kids.

Change alone is eternal, perpetual, immortal.

Those of you who are regular visitors to the site may have noticed some changes.  The galleries have been moved to flickr.com, and I have decided to start using the site for my regular show postings.  I think it will be better in the long term, as it allows quicker uploads, large storage capacity and is easier for the visitor to use.

I am keeping ringsidephotos.net up to date though, with the calendar and will still use it for some photos.  In the past few months, my personal time seems to get less and less.  At times, it would take me over a week to get pictures up, this should remedy that problem.  To the wrestlers, email me for original copies of the photos if you need them.

I am interested in feedback from everyone about the new set-up.

Went to APW-Chester in Jonesville,SC on Friday night to watch the show, and then shot photos at NWA Anarchy on Saturday night.  Good to see everybody at both shows.  ER, Thomas and myself left the Friday show early as we were hungry and wanting to grab a bite to eat before everything was closed.

Bloody, bloody at Anarchy!  Jeff Lewis came out and did an impassioned promo towards the NWA Elite, bashing himself in the head and reopening his wound from “Fright Night”.  Then Nemesis turned on his Urban Assault Squad partner, Shadow Jackson and beat him with part of the Mysterious Benefactor trophy that the team had won.

Derek Ryze made his debut at the show against Melissa Coates.  Derek quickly succumbed to her giant…moves and was pinned.

It was also a special night as Kirby Mack made public his true feelings about ER over dinner, quite a memorable moment.  Not since the story of WillyFred and his little cart have I had such a feeling in my stomach.

New show and I broke 10,000 miles…

Every few weeks I review my datebook and tally up the number of wrestling shows that I have attended along with the number of miles that I have traveled.  I have now broken the 10,000 mile marker.  As of this Sunday, 7 November I will have been to 45 shows and went 10,841 miles in 2007.

I will be traveling to Rocky Mount, VA on Saturday, November 3 for the American Championship Wrestling show.  Johnny Weaver and Sandy Scott will be appearing along with Sgt. Jim Nelson (who some of you would recall as Boris Zhukov).  This is a “Mid Atlantic Mafia” trip, so there will be some exclusive photos taken just for our friends over at the Mid Atlantic Gateway.

Tonight I will be going to Jonesville, SC (home of my last speeding citation) for APW-Chester at the National Guard Armory.  I have done something to elbow, so tonight I am recuperating it so I can be ready for NWA Anarchy on Saturday.
