Happy Thanksgiving to all. Many of you know me, but for those of you who don’t, my name is George Mayfield. On December 30th, myself, and a group of Wrestling fans will leave America bound for Tokyo, Japan, to embark on a Wrestling tour, the likes of which you can’t imagine. We’re scheduled to return on January 6th. While there we’ll be meeting and having lunch/dinner with Masato Tanaka, Tajari, The Big Japan crew & The All Japan crew. We’ll be having dinner at Ribera’s Steakhouse, Mr. Pogo’s & The Great Kubuki’s Restaurants, and if time permits, dinner at Mr. Danger’s Steakhouse. January 1st we’ll be attending a New Year’s Celebration, that you’ll have to see (ON VIDEO) to believe. Did I mention the Wrestling Shows? In addition to the Annual January 4th New Japan Tokyo Dome Show, (this is subject to change) there will be approximately 16 shows in and around Tokyo.

Since it’s inception, I’ve been blessed to be able to serve as a vendor at the Greg Price Legends Fanfest Events. On his message boards, when the question comes up as to what Legend the fans would love to meet, the name The Great Muta, is always mentioned. Earlier this year prior to the October LOTR Fanfest, the subject of The Great Muta coming to America, came up again on their message board. Someone mentioned that with my connections I could make it happen. I gave it some thought, contacted Greg to get his blessing. Discussed this with my partners, Bill Pancoast & Bill Brown. We are now prepared to make Mr. Mutoh an offer to come to America for the upcoming August 2009 Legends Fanfest.

I’m in the process of preparing an Invitational Package to present to Mr. Mutoh, since we’ll be attending All Japan shows on January 2nd & 3rd. Because of my connection with All Japan Ring Announcer “Tiger”, I’ll have the opportunity to meet with him. In addition to the History of the Legends Fanfest Package, I’d like him to be able to go to the Legends Message Board and see what HIS fans have to say about him, and how much they would enjoy meeting him, IF he’s able to attend the next fanfest. This is where you come in. The Legends Fanfest Website can be found at www.nwalegends.com go there, click on to the Message Board. Sign on, and simply state how much you’d like to meet him, your favorite Muta moment, ect…ect… My hope is that once he see’s that he still has a following in America, he’ll want to come.

By no means is this a guarantee that he will agree to come. Obviously, I don’t know his schedule, don’t know what his future plans are, but Charlotte is not far from Atlanta, Ga. Where his & my good friend Abdullah The Butcher lives, hey….you never know. I’ll be seeing Abby on the 10th of January. Never hurts to have a friend put in a good word.

With only a month left before we leave, I have a ton of things to do, one of them is to complete my NEW website, so I can post a daily dairy of events, for everyone to see while we’re in Tokyo. I know many of you frequent various message boards….PLEASE, get the word out, post this on every message board, for the fans to see, The more people who post on www.nwalegends.com for Mr. Mutoh to see, the better chance we have at seeing him in Charlotte come August.

Thanks to everyone who wants to “Help Me Bring The Great Muta, To America”

Also a change in our schedule, due to some holiday scheduling conflicts, we will not be shooting Anarchy this Saturday…I’m hoping to get my schedule moved around so that we can at least make it for “Season’s Beatings”…

do pirates wear bowties?

It’s been a few days since my last blog – busy busy…I have updated the “Foto Flashback” gallery with a new photo from 2006.  You can see that by clicking here

Looking forward to the debut of NWA Charlotte.  The premiere date is 24 January.  Check out their site: http://www.nwacharlotte.com/

If you are going to be in the Greensboro/Charlotte area during the first week of December – you must check out the Highspots/Ric Flair shows:  the Greensboro show wil feature Ricky Steamboat Jr, Golddust, George South, and for the first time in 20 years the Rock n’ Roll Express versus the Midnight Express (Stan Lane & Bobby Eaton).  I know what you’re thinking-these guys have wrestled plenty of times in the past twenty years – well that’s the Bobby Eaton/Dennis Condrey version of the M-X.  Flair will also have his original NWA heavyweight title belt (which is beautifully framed) at the show.

The Charlotte show promises to be quite an event.  There, history will be made as Ric manages his sons, David and Reid in the main event against the Nasty Boys with Jimmy Hart.  Also VIP ticket holders will be entered for a chance to win a night out with Flair in Charlotte- limo ride included!

I may be headed back up to High Velocity Wrestling in Hendersonville, NC with Team Macktion this coming Saturday.

As this may be the last blog I write before the Thanksgiving holiday, I wanted to go ahead and say what I’m thankful for.  I’m thankful for my friends- the ones who have been there for me from many years ago and the new ones who have expanded my opportunities, opinions, and thoughts.

I’m thankful for my family, the blood-relations and the wrestling one.  I’m thankful that I have a good job in this awful economy that pays my bills and allows me to go on my wrestling trips.  I’m thankful for the wrestling bosses and promoters who allow me into their “home” to watch a sport I love.

I’m thankful that America woke up and voted in a man who I think will turn this country around.  I’m thankful for the military men and women who have sacrificed their lives, families, and limbs for this country at home and abroad.  Lastly, I’m thankful for you, the fans of ringsidephotos.net.  Your emails and compliments (and criticisms) keep me going, and make me feel like I’m accomplishing something.

New pics – show & road trip…

If you haven’t seen the new pics from the Highspots/PWS show in Raleigh this past weekend, check them out here: http://ringsidephotos.net/pws_11808.htm

The turn-out was not what everyone was hoping for, but we had a great time.  Got to see some old friends, good show, good food.  Even had a brief family reunion, as my cousin (he manages our Capitol City Bureau) and his son were able to come out to the show.

Check out the road trip pics here (and see who we were behind on the interstate!):
