AWA World tag tourney, 3/6…

MATT & JEFF HARDY INVITATIONAL TAG TEAM TITLE TOURNAMENT

Vacant AWA World Tag Team Titles to be decided in North Carolina March 6th

Since August of 1960, when “Murder Inc” (Tiny Mills and Stan Kowalski) were awarded the titles, the AWA World Tag Team Championships have been the pinnacle for tag teams from around the world for more than four decades. Men who fought with all their heart and all of their determination to hold the prestigious titles and have their names recorded in the annuals of time. Former World Champions like Verne Gagne and Nick Bockwinkle would hold these titles with their respected partners. Legends were made by these championships as The Road Warriors, The Crusher and Dick the Bruiser, and The Vachons all made their mark in history by capturing these titles. Unknown teams at the time such as Scott Hall and Curt Hennig and two young men known as “The Midnight Rockers”, Mart Jannetty and Shawn Michaels, would start their careers battling for the this top prize of tag team wrestling.

It’s no secret that since the early part of 2003, the AWA World Tag-Team Championship has had a storied past with numerous teams claiming the ultimate prize without actually winning the titles. In matches that were sanctioned, the titles seemed to change hands in almost every match held.

On March 6th, 2009 in Hendersonville, NC, history will be made as the next generation of the AWA does battle in what will surely be the biggest tag team tournament of all time! Tag teams from around the globe will come to North Carolina in hopes of joining the all time great tag teams as promoter Thomas Simpson presents the “Matt and Jeff Hardy Invitational Tag Team Tournament”!

Multiple time tag team champions Jose and Joel Maximo (The S.A.T.s), Josh Daniels and Derek Ryze, “The Manscout” Jake Manning and Are$, and former AWA World Tag Team Champions, Team Macktion (Krazy K and TJ Mack), are among the teams who have already been entered into this tournament.

Be a part of history and join Wrestling Superstars Live and the American Wrestling Alliance in Hendersonville, NC for a night of tag team wrestling and watch as one of these teams’ dreams come true and have their name added to the great lineage of wrestlers who have reached the zenith and captured the AWA World Tag Team titles!

PWI Year-End Awards issue…

On the stands now (Barnes & Noble had it) is the special year-end awards issue of Pro Wrestling Illustrated!

Check out page 34 for our photo of the Flair brothers together in Charlotte and then page 62 for our photo of Ricky Steamboat Jr (runner up to the 2008 PWI Rookie of the Year).  We’re quite proud of Blake “Aldridge” who took the photos for us.  Seriously though, every time I see my name and one of my photos in PWI, it’s just as good as the very first time!

And plus, Mama would be proud as both of her bouncing boys, my brother Brett and I are both in this issue.

Site Update:  I have added the “b&w project” gallery link to the gallery gateway page.
